Abstract:

A scalable system and method is described that automatically identifies one or more generic tests for testing a GUI. A generic test case is written once instead of writing test cases for every single page or assembly. Each page has a corresponding page type. Each generic test is mapped to one or more testing rules, where the testing rules each have a rule type. An automated system is provided to scan target directories for all relevant pages related to a software product, identify a page type for each page, identify the appropriate generic test cases to be applied to each page, execute the generic test cases, and provide an output to indicate the results of the tests on the various pages. The generic tests for the GUIs can thus be automatically applied to identify and eliminate a certain class of bugs matching the behavior of the generic test case.

Abstract:

A method using cmdlets in association with a graphical user interface for an application, a command line interface, and a web-based interface for the application includes generating a command which invokes at least one cmdlet. Each cmdlets containing the business logic for the application. The same cmdlets may be invoked from either the GUI, the command line, or the web-based interface. The result is that the task performed by the cmdlet is the same for each interface where each interface is absent business logic.

Abstract:

Methods, systems, and apparatuses for providing a per-web-page time zone. One apparatus includes a memory storing a local time zone and at least one electronic processor. The at least one electronic processor is configured to execute a browser application to read a time zone value included in a web page to be displayed within the browser application, wherein the time zone value specifies a time zone different than the local time zone. The at least one electronic processor is also configured to apply the time zone specified by the time zone value in place of the local time zone for a time-related command included in the web page executed by the browser application without changing the local time zone to the time zone value included in the web page.

Abstract:

An event can be stored using an indication of recurrence and an intent-time event time that includes a trigger indicator and optionally an offset. When a view of a calendar having intentional-time events is requested by a calendar application, a calendar service can search a storage resource for the requested calendar and any events that fall within a requested start time and end time. The identified events can be provided to a source of the request. Any intent-time event times that are stored as part of intentional-time events can be calculated based on their triggers and offsets. The calculations may be carried by the calendar service and the results provided to the calendar application or by the calendar application itself.

Various techniques of time zone conversion are disclosed in this application. For example, in one embodiment, a computing device can include a synchronizer configured to receive a set of time zone rules from a server. The set of time zone rules individually including a time zone identifier, a start date, and a time offset from a standard time beginning from the start date. The computing device can also include a converter operatively coupled to the synchronizer. The converter is configured to selectively convert time zone sensitive data received at or stored on the computing device to a target time zone based on the set of time zone rules.
