  • Catalytic Dewaxing Process Employing Surface Acidity Deactivated Zeolite Catalysts

    view source
  • US Patent:
    50153617, May 14, 1991
  • Filed:
    Jan 23, 1989
  • Appl. No.:
    7/299905
  • Inventors:
Robert J. Anthes - Hamilton Square NJ
Ross A. Kremer - Ringoes NJ
  • Assignee:
Mobil Oil Corp. - Fairfax VA
  • International Classification:
    C10G 4716
  • US Classification:
    208111
  • Abstract:
Catalytic dewaxing of a waxy component-containing hydrocarbon feed is accomplished with improved selectivity employing, as catalyst, a zeolite the surface acid catalytic activity of which has been at least partially reduced by chemisorption of a surface-deactivating agent such as a bulky amine thereon. The invention is especially useful for the hydrodewaxing of a waxy lube range product to provide a high viscosity index, low pour point, low cloud point lubricating oil product.
  • Catalytic Dewaxing Lubricating Oil Stock Derived From Oligomerized Olefin

    view source
  • US Patent:
    50008404, Mar 19, 1991
  • Filed:
    Jan 23, 1989
  • Appl. No.:
    7/299856
  • Inventors:
Robert J. Anthes - Hamilton Square NJ
Ross A. Kremer - Ringoes NJ
  • Assignee:
Mobil Oil Corporation - Fairfax VA
  • International Classification:
    C10G 4716
  • US Classification:
    208111
  • Abstract:
A waxy component-containing lubricating oil stock derived from the multi-stage catalytic oligomerization of a lower olefin such as propylene is subjected to selective catalytic hydrodewaxing in the presence of certain acidic zeolites, e. g. , H-ZSM-23 and H-ZSM-35, preferably associated with a hydrogenation component such as platinum, palladium or zinc, to provide a high viscosity, low pour point lubricating oil product.
  • Mineral Ore Flotation Process And Apparatus

    view source
  • US Patent:
    48510360, Jul 25, 1989
  • Filed:
    Sep 18, 1987
  • Appl. No.:
    7/098337
  • Inventors:
Robert J. Anthes - Hamilton Square NJ
Ross A. Kremer - Ringoes NJ
Susanne Von Rosenberg - Princeton NJ
  • Assignee:
Mobil Oil Corporation - New York NY
  • International Classification:
    B03D 100
    C22B 100
  • US Classification:
    75 2
  • Abstract:
There is disclosed a process and an apparatus for beneficiating a mineral ore, such as phosphate-containing ore, in a substantially vertical column. The feed subjected to the benefication preferably has a particle size of less than 20 mesh. The feed is introduced into the column, containing at least one baffle, into which there is also introduced a gas at the bottom portion thereof and a liquid through at least one column inlet at the top of the column. The baffle and the rates of introduction of the feed, the gas, and the liquid are such as to create relatively high turbulence conditions within the column. The enriched, beneficiated product is removed at the top of the column, while the waste products, such as silica-containing material, in the case of a phosphate ore, are recovered at the bottom of the column. The column is either used as a single step flotation apparatus to recover mineral ore, or, preferably, as an apparatus of a multi-step flotation process wherein the rougher flotation step is carried out in the column and a subsequent cleaner flotation step in a conventional flotation apparatus, e. g. , a Denver Flotation Cell.
  • Method For Beneficiating Ores

    view source
  • US Patent:
    45320330, Jul 30, 1985
  • Filed:
    May 21, 1984
  • Appl. No.:
    6/612176
  • Inventors:
Robert J. Anthes - Plainsboro NJ
Ross A. Kremer - Ringoes NJ
  • Assignee:
Mobil Oil Corporation - New York NY
  • International Classification:
    B03D 114
  • US Classification:
    209166
  • Abstract:
In conventional froth floatation procedures for phosphate flotation, the feed is conditioned, diluted and floated. By lowering the pH with acid after the conditioning step, but before flotation, to a pH of from about 6. 4 to about 7. 0, one can improve phosphate selectivity.
