    09/537267
  • Inventors:
Pavo Pusic - Florham Park NJ 07932
  • International Classification:
    F16H 5530
  • US Classification:
    474152, 474158, 474162, 192 64
  • Abstract:
A multiple-speed chain driving device includes a shaft, a rotorsassembly, a chain driving sprocket, and a shifting assembly. The rotorsassembly is mounted on the shaft and includes three rotors which are vertically mounted on each other and enclosed within the sprocket. The shifting assembly is also mounted on the shaft and located parallel with respect to the rotors assembly. The device can be made in either 3-speed or 2-speed design and enables a few slightly different configurations for both designs. The device enables a smooth shifting process and allows only one sprocket to produce the full range of speeds presently obtained by a front sprocket assembly in a bicycle.
  • Hydraulic Connecting Rod

  • Inventors:
Pavo Pusic - East Hanover NJ
Bozo Memed - 50000 Dubrovnik, YU
  • Assignee:
Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. - Tokyo
    Hitachi, Ltd. - Tokyo
  • International Classification:
    F02B 7532
  • US Classification:
    123197AB
  • Abstract:
A connecting rod for an internal-combustion, steam or the like, engine, having hydraulic means for converting the reciprocating motion of engine piston to the rotating motion of crankshaft. While producing the same torque on crankshaft, the hydraulic connecting rod enables the crankshaft throw to be shorter and, therefore, enables a decrease of the centrifugal force and inertia load produced by crankshaft rotating motion. Futhermore, the present invention enables a significant decrease of piston-ring friction and significantly reduces total engine friction. The present invention also yields significant decreases of centrifugal, inertia and friction loads resulting in a significant increase of total engine efficiency and power output.
  • Electrically Operated Cylinder Valve

  • US Patent:
    50742590, Dec 24, 1991
  • Filed:
    May 9, 1990
  • Appl. No.:
    7/520725
  • Inventors:
Pavo Pusic - East Hanover NJ
  • International Classification:
    F01L 904
  • US Classification:
    123 9011
  • Abstract:
An electrically operated cylinder valve and a valve operating device for an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The valve is operated by electromagnetic means energized by electrical currents which are controlled by electronic means. The flow of currents determines the valve timing, duration, and lift according to requirements for optimal engine performance under different operating conditions.
  • External Combustion Rotary Engine

    view source
  • US Patent:
    52110176, May 18, 1993
  • Filed:
    Feb 25, 1992
  • Appl. No.:
    7/840824
  • Inventors:
Pavo Pusic - East Hanover NJ
  • International Classification:
    F02G 1044
  • US Classification:
    60519
  • Abstract:
An external combustion rotary engine having a configuration which allows spatial separation of the heaters and coolers, and a process which enables rotary motion of the rotors to be performed without internal combustion. The engine includes the triangular rotors enclosed inside the housings shaped in the form of an epitrochoid curve, the heat generating units, and the heat absorbing and discharging units. The heat generating units and the heat absorbing and discharging units are located outside the housings and connected to the housings. The engine can also include the ultrasonic fuel atomizers inside the heat generating units and the turbine for the purpose of rapid acceleration. The present invention provides the simple, compact, lightweight, extremely energy-efficient and environmentally clean engine.
  • Stirling Engine Using Hydraulic Connecting Rod

  • US Patent:
    50779761, Jan 7, 1992
  • Filed:
    Aug 22, 1990
  • Appl. No.:
    7/570806
  • Inventors:
Pavo Pusic - East Hanover NJ
Bozo Memed - 50000 Dubrovnik, YUK
  • International Classification:
    F02G 1044
    F02G 1053
    F02B 7532
  • US Classification:
    60525
  • Abstract:
A Stirling engine having a configuration which allow spatial separation of the heaters and coolers. The engine includes four cylinders with passageways connecting the cylinders such that a direct fluid connection is formed between each cylinder and every other cylinder. The configuration of the passageways and arrangement of the cylinders is such that heat energy is not wasted. The spatial separation of the heaters and coolers allows the heaters and coolers to be located in separate environments. The pistons within each cylinder are connected to one or two crankshafts through a connecting device which generates no side thrust on the cylinder walls. Preferably, the connecting device used is a hydraulic connecting rod.
  • Motorcyclist's Air Strips

  • US Patent:
    50919920, Mar 3, 1992
  • Filed:
    Dec 15, 1989
  • Appl. No.:
    7/451140
  • Inventors:
Pavo Pusic - East Hanover NJ
  • International Classification:
    A41D 1300
  • US Classification:
    2 2
  • Abstract:
Inflatable air strips for protection of a motorcyclist body in case of a traffic accident are disclosed. The air strips comprise plurality of horizontal and vertical air strips worn all around the motorcyclist body which are inflated with gas produced in a gas generator. An inflation process is initiated by an activating cord which is extended from the gas generator and attached to a motorcycle.
  • Even Increment, Non-Overlapping Bicycle Transmission

    view source
  • US Patent:
    59249501, Jul 20, 1999
  • Filed:
    Oct 6, 1997
  • Appl. No.:
    8/944612
  • Inventors:
Pavo M Pusic - Florham Park NJ
  • International Classification:
    F16H 3702
  • US Classification:
    475207
  • Abstract:
A transmission for transmitting power from an input shaft to a driving wheel and changing rotating speed ratios is disclosed. The transmission comprises a drive shaft, a set of drive gears, a driven shaft, a set of driven gears, one counter gear, one return gear including a hub, a planetary gear and sprocket assembly, and a braking mechanism which alternates the operation of the planetary gear. By alternately engaging the different drive gears, the transmission enables the change of an input rotating speed and by stopping the ring gear in the planetary assembly it further multiplies the change of the input rotating speed. Within a very compact and user-friendly design, the transmission provides a fill range of speeds and enables smooth power flow resulting in the decrease of power loss in pedal propelled vehicles.
