Abstract:
This invention relates in general to fuser for a reproduction apparatus, and more particularly to an adjustable loading mechanism for a printing machine fuser. According to various aspects of the invention, apparatus and methods for loading a printing machine fuser are provided. A loading force for a pressure member and a fuser member may be generated by deflecting a spring relative to a spring support that restrains an end of the spring, the spring support being mounted to an arm body, the arm body comprising a pivot axis and a loading mount acting on one of the pressure member and the fuser member. The loading force may be adjusted by displacing the spring support to adjust a deflection of the spring.

Abstract:
A toner image is fixed to a receiving sheet by the application of pressure and heat applied between first and second pressure members. To prevent blistering of finished receiving sheets, a substantial temperature gradient is maintained between the two members which heats the image side of the receiving sheet adequately for fixing without excessively heating the overall sheet. The second pressure member contacting the side of the sheet opposite from the image is actively cooled by an air cooling device or the like as controlled by a logic and control in response to the temperature of the second pressure member.

Abstract:
A wicking device for applying toner release oil to the surface of a fuser roller of a reproduction apparatus. The wicking device includes a first rotatable roller that has a hollow interior and a porous capillary shell for pulling toner release oil from the hollow interior to the outside surface thereof. The wicking device also includes a second rotatable roller that is mounted within, and for rotation against, the surface of the hollow interior of the first rotatable roller for supplying and pushing toner release oil into the capillary shell of the first rotatable roller.
