The method including the steps of providing a specimen, and testing the specimen to determine moisture content values and leakage current values at predetermined time intervals. The method further including the steps of determining a moisture-leakage current factor from the moisture content values and leakage current values, and using the moisture-leakage current factor to determine electrical insulation properties of the specimen.
