Exemplary embodiments are directed to a retractable instrument holder. More specifically, the instrument holder is composed of an adapter coupled to a retractable reel. The adapter includes a main cavity that has an inner bore of varying diameters. Accordingly, the adapter is capable of retaining instruments of varying sizes as well as those instruments having a variety of shapes.

Abstract:

A holder adapted to be attached to a tether to help retrieve a dropped tool or prevent a dropped tool from being lost or forgotten during use where the holder has a hollow member with an open end and a closed end and is adapted to frictionally hold a non-working end of a tool in the hollow member. The closed end of the hollow member has a centrally located opening within which is located a cylindrical member which is connected at one end to a shoulder connector and is coupled, either directly or indirectly, to an attachment means at its other end. The cylindrical member can be either fixed or rotatably coupled to the opening in the hollow member and the attachment means is configured to be attached to an end of a tether.

Abstract:

The present invention is directed to an improved rewind apparatus for a flexible member. Specifically, the invention provides a retractable spool and a mechanism which allows a user to move a switch so that he/she has a choice of having the spool always pulling on the flexible member, a Tension mode of operation, or using a No Tension mode of operation that allows the flexible member to relax, and then, with a brief tug on the flexible member, retraction forces of a spring causes the flexible member to be wound around the spool.

Novel pen structures for securing pen cap to a pen. A tethering structure is mounted to a securing ring that is mounted on the holding barrel a pen. The attached tether then holds a cap close to the holding barrel and the cap can therefore either be placed over or be removed from the writing tip without being detached from the holding barrel.

Abstract:

An improved aerial gunnery target and reel system is provided which includes an aerial target, a housing affixable to an airframe, a cable spool secured for rotation in the housing, with cable wound therearound and connected to the target, a reel powering and control mechanism in the housing and a target launcher assembly in the housing. The launcher assembly includes a launcher arm extending from the housing, releasably secured to the target and movable with the target between a compact, protected target stored position and a target launch position where the target is exposed to the air slipstream during operation of an aircraft to which the system is connected. The arm rotates or telescopes between the two positions. The launcher assembly also includes a powering mechanism such as a pneumatic or hydraulic ram or an electric motor which moves the arm and attached target between the two positions. Such powering mechanism also operates a locking device to lock the arm to and unlock it from the target.
