  • US Patent:
    6904252, Jun 7, 2005
  • Filed:
    Mar 26, 2003
  • Appl. No.:
    10/249253
  • Inventors:
Constance J. Thornton - Ontario NY, US
Joseph Mammino - Penfield NY, US
Robert M. Ferguson - Penfield NY, US
Paul J. Brach - Rochester NY, US
Edward Scales - Fairport NY, US
Raymond K. Crandall - Rochester NY, US
  • Assignee:
    Xerox Corporation - Stamford CT
  • International Classification:
    G03G015/10
  • US Classification:
    399159, 399161, 399237, 430117, 430 66
  • Abstract:
An image-bearing article used in liquid contact electrostatic printing (CEP) is formed from polymers that meet the requisite conformance and heat stability for the CEP process. Excessive absorption of toner carrier liquids by the image-bearing article in liquid CEP leads to the deterioration of the image-bearing article and reduces the useful life of the image-bearing article. The absorption of the toner carrier fluid may be controlled by the addition of oxides, silicone elastomers containing phenyl end groups, fluorosilicones or increasing the cross-linking density of the methyl silicones.

    82 111
  • Abstract:
A method and apparatus for securing a drum blank for machining includes inserting a cylindrical mandrel within a bore of a drum blank, introducing a liquid support material into a space between the outer diameter of the mandrel and the inner diameter of the drum blank, and solidifying the support material. Once the support material is solidified, the drum blank is securely held to the mandrel. Machining operations can be performed by mounting the assembly in a lathe. After machining is completed, the support material may be treated so that the mandrel can be removed from the drum blank. The mandrel may then be recycled.
