Abstract:
There is disclosed a game dart having a pivotally moveable point which is coupled to the barrel section of a dart within an aperture located in the barrel section and of a diameter larger than the diameter of the dart point section. The space between the aperture and the dart point section contains an elastomeric material permitting the point to flex or pivot upon striking a metal rib associated with a dartboard. Other embodiments depict a flexible point section which due to its construction, will flex or pivot; while other embodiments depict techniques for coupling the point section to the barrel to allow flexing of the dart point when contacting a metal rib. Another apparatus which circumvents the bounce-off problem depicts a dartboard employing special cross-sectional metal ribs to provide a sliding surface for the dart when the pointed end contacts the rib.

Abstract:
A dart point for a game dart fabricated from a resin reinforced composite laminate wherein the dart point deflects around a metal rib on a dartboard when the dart point strikes the metal rib at a point off-center. Furthermore, the dart point destructively deforms when the dart point strikes the direct center of a metal rib on the dartboard, thereby changing the point of contact between the dart point and the wire so as to direct the dart point into the dartboard at the side of the metal rib contacted.

Abstract:
A dart barrel having a surface coating applied thereto that provides the dart barrel with an increased resistance to wear and an increased coefficient of friction. The surface coating is sprayed onto the dart barrel in a semi-molten form. The dart barrel is then heat processed wherein the dart barrel is heated and the material of the surface coating and material of the dart barrel diffuse into each other bonding the two materials together.

Abstract:
There is disclosed a composite game dart assembly wherein a point end has coupled thereto a barrel shaft upon which shaft, a plurality of annular weight members are emplaced, the barrel shaft is then coupled to a flight or feather accommodating assembly by means of a screw mechanism to enable a user to remove the flight accommodating assembly for the selective emplacement of the annular weights of different materials to control the overall weight and length characteristics of the dart assembly.
