  • US Patent:
    43358802, Jun 22, 1982
  • Filed:
    Sep 8, 1980
  • Appl. No.:
    6/185374
  • Inventors:
Burton C. Meyer - Downers Grove IL
    Gunars Licitis - Lombard IL
Derek A. Brand - Naperville IL
  • Assignee:
Marvin Glass & Associates - Chicago IL
  • International Classification:
    A63F 902
    F41J 502
    F41J 506
  • US Classification:
    273310
  • Abstract:
A target shooting apparatus including an operator controlled simulated gun which projects a light beam of short duration toward a target each time the trigger is actuated. The simulated gun must be cocked between each "shot" which also resets a recoiling mechanism to give a true to life operational effect to the gun. The target includes a frame fronted by a simulated fence on top of which a plurality of objects, such as bottles, tin cans, and the like may be placed. A target impeller is provided on the frame in proximity to each of the objects so that, when actuated, the impeller will cause physical movement of the associated target knocking it off of the frame. The target impellers are actuated by a control mechanism, as a photo transistor therein senses the proper alignment of the light beam from the gun through one of a plurality of apertures located on the frame below each of the objects. The control mechanism is slidably mounted on a downwardly canted guide rail by a carriage which moves from one target impeller to the next lower target impeller after actuation thereof. After all of the objects have been hit, the carriage is manually moved back to the top of the rail guide and each of the target impellers is manually reset for another play of the game.

  • US Patent:
    40288455, Jun 14, 1977
  • Filed:
    Jan 21, 1976
  • Appl. No.:
    5/650894
  • Inventors:
    Gunars Licitis - Lombard IL
  • Assignee:
Marvin Glass & Associates - Chicago IL
  • International Classification:
    A63H 300
  • US Classification:
    46164
  • Abstract:
A figure toy or doll having a layered plastic skin including a molded soft, pliable outer skin exteriorly of a substantially rigid, molded inner skeletal shell, and a method for making the same. The figure toy includes a molded smooth, pliable outer skin covering defining the exterior surface and shape of the doll, which is bonded to a substantially rigid molded inner wall interiorly thereof, which provides support for the doll. The method includes the steps of coating the interior walls of a suitable mold cavity with a generally soft plastisol and gelling the plastisol by heating the mold cavity during rotation thereof to form a soft outer covering or skin; coating the interior of the skin with a second plastisol which will cure to form a rigid plastic skeleton to give support to said outer shell; pressurizing the mold cavity; and heat curing both the first and second plastisol during rotation of the mold cavity, then recovering the doll from the mold.

  • US Patent:
    41718119, Oct 23, 1979
  • Filed:
    Feb 10, 1978
  • Appl. No.:
    5/876409
  • Inventors:
Burton C. Meyer - Downers Grove IL
    Gunars Licitis - Lombard IL
Harry Disko - South Barrington IL
  • Assignee:
Marvin Glass & Associates - Chicago IL
  • International Classification:
    F41J 502
    F41F 2700
  • US Classification:
    2731011
  • Abstract:
A toy gun or similar device usable with reflective target apparatus utilizes a pulsed light source and a self-contained light detector for detecting light reflected from the target apparatus back to the light detector. The gun includes an audible indicator responsive to the light detector for indicating each time a "hit" is made on the target apparatus, and also includes a resettable counter that provides an indication of the total number of such "hits" achieved in a given time period. The invention also provides a target having a pulsed light source to energize or actuate the light detector.

  • US Patent:
    42650470, May 5, 1981
  • Filed:
    Feb 9, 1979
  • Appl. No.:
    6/010808
  • Inventors:
Burton C. Meyer - Downers Grove IL
Howard J. Morrison - Deerfield IL
    Gunars Licitis - Lombard IL
  • Assignee:
Marvin Glass & Associates - Chicago IL
  • International Classification:
    A63H 3326
  • US Classification:
    46232
  • Abstract:
A simulated vehicle instrumentation and control apparatus includes sound effects generating arrangements, indicators and displays that are controlled to simulate realistic driving conditions in response to the operation of various vehicle controls by the operator of the simulated vehicle apparatus. The vehicle controls include a steering wheel, an accelerator pedal, a brake pedal, a transmission gear shift selector, and an ignition switch. In various specific embodiments, additional controls are provided including siren and light controls. The turning of an ignition key in the ignition switch to a predetermined position initiates operation of the simulated vehicle apparatus. Operation of the accelerator pedal conditions the simulated vehicle apparatus to generate simulated vehicle engine sound effects in response to subsequent operation of the transmission gear shift selector. Operation of the brake pedal conditions the vehicle apparatus to generate simulated tire and brake squealing for a predetermined time interval. Turning of the steering wheel to either the left or right beyond predetermined limits conditions the vehicle apparatus to generate an out-of-control squealing effect for a predetermined time interval.
