Abstract:
A fluidic valve assembly having a fluidic valve mechanism similar to the mechanisms in U. S. Pat. Nos. 5,003,780 and 5,348,040 provided with improved valve positioning devices which provide improvements in providing the force to move the valve members, and in positioning fluidic valve members in their valve chambers so that the valve members open and close a chamber port, depending upon the direction of fluid flow through the valve chamber. Such devices include providing cam ears on a flow sensitive positioning blade to improve valve position and freedom of the valve member to be moved by fluid flow; the provision of a device using the force multiplication advantage of a toggle arrangement to increase the force acting on a valve member to open it, for example; use of a flow rod timed with the action of a positioning blade construction on a valve member; and use of an outside power source such as a solenoid actuated element acting in conjunction with a valve positioning blade arrangement to open and close a valve member, particularly in vehicle ABS and/or traction control systems, while providing such systems with mechanical/hydraulic backup in case of electrical failure so that the vehicle continues to have controllable vehicle braking that will function adequately as needed until the electrical failure has been analyzed and repaired.

Abstract:
Several modifications and variations of roof ridge anchors are disclosed. One group has simple but extremely effective anchors which are inexpensive to make and will fully satisfy all requirements of building codes as well as roofers. Some roof ridge anchor crowns or head sections have all planar surfaces with no recesses; others have recesses on the side parts thereof; and have specific recess shapes that are advantageous when attaching roof ridge tile members to the anchors; other anchor head sections are provided with curvilinear portions; some have separate water leakage shields that direct any water leakage away from the interior of the anchors; some have recesses that extend the entire length of the anchors or alternately have recess sections that are longitudinally spaced along the length of the anchors.
Fittings for cylindrical members such as pipes, tubes, and rods. A nut main body has internal camming surfaces formed by threads on a bore or recess inner surface, and a cap bolt has a through bore, and a longitudinally segmented shank defining clamping legs. External camming surfaces defined by threads on the remote ends of the clamping legs from the bolt head fit within the internal camming surfaces with the bolt head engaging the nut main body so that the internal and external camming surfaces are contained within the nut main body and protected against damage. A cylindrical member fits through the cap bolt bore and into the nut main body recess axially beyond the internal camming surfaces. Further tightening of the cap bolt causes camming action of the camming surfaces to occur, forcing the clamping legs to bend in cantilever fashion so that their remote ends clampingly grip the cylindrical member. Suitable seals are provided to keep the camming surfaces protected.

Abstract:
A brake system using a pair of brake apply and release force units, the units having electric motors with non-backdriveable mechanical output members to supply the needed brake apply force to limit of capability of the motors. Piezoelectric elements that generate high forces with low expansion during rapid rates of change of applied voltage are positioned in brake apply force-transmitting series with the motor output members. These elements are alternately energerized with applied voltage and deenergized, in opposite phase relation. The piezoelectric expansion effect of each energized element is mechanically captured in each energization cycle by the motor unit having the deenergized element so that the brake apply forces actually applied to actuate the brake are increased well beyond the maximum output of the motors. This is obtained by the alternating energization of the piezoelectric elements and the alternating follow-up actions of the motors, with the non-backdrivable arrangements acting to store the mechanical force increases so attained. Wheel lock control may be attained.
A connector fitting of the cantilever camming and clamping type having a ferrule secured in the main body bore thereof, the ferrule having an end received in one end of a tubular, usually plastic, member as the tubular member is installed. The ferrule provides radial force backup preventing collapse of the tubular member. It seals with the bore of the main body and with the tubular member. The cap bolt part of the fitting may have a tapered or a straight inner surface arranged to engage the outer wall of the tubular member in gripping relation.
