A fastener for removably securing components to a skateboard is disclosed. The fastener includes a bolt having a head from which one or more fillets extend in coaxial alignment along the bolt shaft, and are equiangularly spaced about the bolt shaft. The fillets decrease in outer diameter as they extend down from the bolt head and terminate at or above a threaded or non-threaded extent of the shaft. Outer flange-like tips extend from the substantially planar bolt head in a spaced, circumferential arrangement, and optionally, the flanges are turned down at their distal ends in the direction of the top surface of the skateboard. When tightened, the fillets engage with the walls of the bolt hole and the flanges bite into the top surface of the skateboard, preventing rotation of the bolt in the fully installed condition but enabling ready removal of components as desired.
An improved king pin nut removably securing a king pin to a skateboard is disclosed. The king pin nut of the present invention includes an elongated generally cylindrical nut that is internally threaded for receiving the threaded shaft of the truck king pin. The king pin nut includes a shoulder extending from an intermediate portion of the periphery of the elongated nut, the shoulder having a configuration complementary to a receiving recess provided in the truck base bracket to which a truck axle bracket is to be assembled, and is secured in position for single-tool installation of various skateboard components.
An axle thread protection system which simultaneously protects the skateboard wheel bearings from dust and debris. A plastic shield is used between the hanger of the skateboard truck and the skateboard wheel. The shield generally held adjacent to the exposed outer surface of the inner skateboard wheel bearing. A capping nut having a similar bearing-protector flange has a nut section coupled to a cage section that holds in place a locking ring and thread protector. The locking ring helps to reduce vibration and keep the capping nut on the threaded end of the skateboard axle while a thread protector reduces injury to the threaded axle end of the skateboard.
Apparatus for attaching a skateboard truck to a skateboard base plate in a manner which does not result in any dangerous protrusions which might cause hang up during use. Included is an elongated member having a head with a cross-sectional area that gradually increases from the outer tip portion of the head in a smooth fashion such that there are no rough or sharply protruding edges or corners.
