Disclosed are methods for discovering agonists and antagonists of the interaction between monkey AXOR8, human AXOR8, and human AXOR52 receptors with their natural ligands: human BV8-a, mouse BV8-a, frog BV8, human BV8-b, human PRO1186, human PRO1186 variant, and mamba intestinal toxin (herein “MIT”).
