Abstract:

Technology is disclosed for implementing a major problem review process. Incidents are recorded in a common data schema and the data is then used to facilitate an IT organization's major problem review process. Reporting is provided on the data in a format that allows trend information to be readily compiled. The format allows tracking both a primary root cause and an exacerbating cause of an incident or problem. Incidents can be recorded in relation to a group of elements having a common characteristic. The technology includes facilities for tracking downtime minutes by server, service, and database.

Systems and methods for implementing non-executable configuration files into a resource reporting application are disclosed. In accordance with one embodiment, a method for implementing non-executable configuration files into a resource reporting application includes developing one or more non-executable data files for implementation into the resource reporting application. The non-executable data files are then bundled into a file pack. The file pack is then distributed to the resource reporting application. The resource reporting application then implements one or more non-executable data files into the resource reporting application. In further embodiments, the non-executable data files include XML files. In some embodiments, the non-executable data files are bundled into a .cab file pack.

Aspects of the subject matter described herein relate to analyzing data and providing recommendations regarding computing assets. In aspects, data is collected from computing assets and aggregated in a data repository. A data analyzer analyzes the data to determine problems associated with the computing assets. Work done to identify a problem with one computing asset may be used to identify problems with or provide recommendations for other computing assets controlled by the same or different entities. When a problem is identified in a computing asset, a recommendation may be proactively provided to an entity associated with the computing asset.
