Abstract:

A networking service that receives information about behaviors of the users, such as behaviors in which a user is engaging now or will engage in the future. The networking service compares the behavior information to identify matches between two or more users. When a match is detected, the networking service may form a network (e.g., a social network) between the two or more users by connecting the users in a network. The users may then communicate in the network, and additional users may be added to the network when those users are determined to be engaging in the behavior. When the networking service detects that the users are no longer engaging in the behaviors on which the match was identified, the networking service may disconnect users from one another or the network, and the networking service may eliminate the network.

Abstract:

A reputation system used in a social networking service provides for recognition for its members in the form of badges that can be displayed on the members' profile pages as a way of indicating a particular status. In various illustrative examples, a “tastemaker” badge may be awarded to a member who plays or recommends to other members (through various recommendation channels such as messages, shared playlists, etc.) particular pieces of media content such as songs or videos in advance of that content becoming popular with the larger community of members in the social network. The tastemaker badge can then be placed on the member's profile page as a symbol of recognition or achievement that can help to increase that member's reputation in the social network.

Abstract:

Disclosed are systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media to provide for progressive display of attachments on a mobile device. In some aspects, a method includes determining a sequence of media for presentation to a user, determining to insert new media between two media of the sequence of media. In some aspects, the new media may be a short form video. The method may further include receiving touch screen input while presenting the new media, and presenting additional media in response to the touch screen input. In some aspects, the additional media may be a long form video. In some aspects, additional input may be received while the additional media is presented. The new input may request a further media be presented. The further media may be a software installation dialog or a web page.

Aspects of the present disclosure involve a system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing a program and method for providing a reply interface for a media content item within a messaging system. The program and method provide for receiving, by a messaging application, first user input corresponding to a request for a content feed, the content feed comprising a plurality of media content items; providing, in response to receiving the first user input, for display of the content feed; receiving, by the messaging application, second user input of a swipe gesture performed with respect to display of a media content item of the plurality of media content items; and providing, in response to receiving the second user input, for display of a reply interface together with display of the media content item, the reply interface for sending a reply message to a user associated with the media content item.

Aspects of the present disclosure involve a system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing a program and method for displaying a profile from a content feed within a messaging system. The program and method provide for receiving by a messaging application, first user input corresponding to a request for a content feed, the content feed comprising a plurality of media content items; providing, in response to receiving the first user input, for display of the content feed; receiving, by the messaging application, second user input of a predefined gesture performed with respect to a first media content item of the plurality of media content items; determining, in response to receiving the second user input and based on the first media content item, to display a public profile associated with the first media content item; and providing, based on the determining, for display of the public profile.
