A portable system for analysis of blood or other bodily fluids removable from a patient is disclosed. The system includes a temperature sensing device and a temperature control circuit. The temperature sensing device senses a temperature of a surface of a sensor substrate of a cartridge having an electrical heater device without direct contact with the cartridge or direct exposure to the heating device. The temperature sensing device also generates an electrical signal related to the sensed temperature. The temperature control circuit controls an electrical input to the heater device based on the sensed temperature and a designed control temperature.

Abstract:
Techniques for validating operation of a medical device are disclosed. A data collection phase utilizes a first sensor carried by a patient to record patient parameter values indicative of conditions experienced by the patient (e. g, posture states. ) Therapy parameter values describing therapy adjustments requested by the patient in response to the conditions are also recorded. Associations formed between the therapy parameter values and the patient parameter values are used to develop a closed-loop algorithm for control of an IMD having a sensor similar to the first sensor. An automated device such as a robotic arm uses the recorded patient parameter values to automatically reproduce, and to subject the IMD to, conditions present during the data collection phase. Therapy delivered by the IMD while under control of the closed-loop algorithm and while being subjected to the conditions is compared to the recorded therapy parameter values e to validate IMD operation.

Abstract:
A surge protector for coupling exposed (to power surges) data communication end ports having a plurality of bi-directional data lines, and protected data communication end ports having a plurality of associated bi-directional data lines. The surge protector includes a plurality of exposed end terminals, each exposed end terminal for connection to a data line of the exposed port, and a plurality of protected end terminals, each protected end terminal for connection to an associated data line of the protected port. The surge protector includes a plurality of transient surge protection elements. Each transient surge protection element is connected across one exposed terminal and a ground, and short circuits current to ground when voltage on the exposed terminal reaches a threshold limit. The surge suppressor also includes a plurality of opto-isolation elements, each connected between a connection for a transient surge suppressor element and a protected terminal. The opto-isolation elements optically couple and galvanically isolate from each other the protected terminals and the exposed terminals.
