Adriana Kertzer was raised in São Paulo and is today a New York-based design entrepreneur focused on complex cultural event planning and project management. AK specializes in utilizing creative sponsorship structures, new media, public/private sector partnerships, and sophisticated promotional strategies to organize events related to contemporary design and art. AK is currently working on Brazil 2012: Art & Design, a joint venture with Pinacoteca Art Advisory that will culminate in a week-long trip to Brazil during the São Paulo Bienal and ArtRio, Rio de Janeiro's contemporary art fair. During the Armory Show 2012, she co-organized a talk by Neville Wakefield on emerging Brazilian artists with APEX (the Brazilian Association of Contemporary Art), Dasartes (the publisher of the Brazilian Art Guide), Pinacoteca Art Advisory, and Josee Bienvenu Gallery. AK has worked at Parsons School of Design, the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, and Phillips de Pury & Co.’s design department. In 2010, she coordinated Semana Carlos Motta, a week-long symposium about the Brazilian designer Carlos Motta that was co-sponsored by the Brazilian Consulate in New York, Phillips de Pury & Co., Espasso, and AIA Center for Architecture. AK is currently pursuing an M.A. in design studies through the joint program sponsored by Parsons School of Design + Cooper-Hewitt and is a merit scholarship recipient. She earned her B.A. from Brown University phi beta kappa and magna cum laude and a J.D. from Georgetown Law Center. AK’s art law background includes work experience at The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York and The National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. As part of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett’s Latin America team, she focused on Brazilian capital markets transactions. AK is a member of the New York Bar, was the first woman on the board of IBRADEMP (Instituto Brasileiro de Direito Empresarial), and is currently on the advisory board of the Sex Worker's Project.
