Abstract:

A game play apparatus housing supports a joystick post and a plurality of game play input buttons. A miniature surfboard is supported on the upper end of the joystick post. A microprocessor game play circuit and sound circuit together with a controller is supported within the interior of the housing. A simulated shark head is pivotally supported upon the upper end of the housing and forms an upper jaw. A drive mechanism utilizing a reversible motor responds to the controller circuit to either oscillate the head and upper jaw through a narrow range of motion or, alternatively, allow a rapid downward closure of the upper jaw upon the toy surfboard to provide a game play finale.

Abstract:

A game housing supports a liquid crystal display having a plurality of liquid crystal display elements therein together with a processor and sound circuit. A plurality of switches simulating the operations of making cookies are operative upon the game housing. These switches include a simulated cookie batter stirring handle together with a simulated roller. Further, the switches include simulated cookie cutters having different shapes. In operation, the manipulation of the simulated cookie batter stirring element produces display images corresponding thereto. Similarly, manipulation of the roller causes a different image to be displayed. Finally, pressing any of the cookie cutter switches causes the corresponding shapes to be display upon the liquid crystal display.

Abstract:

A refractory composite article includes a plurality of continuous, polycrystalline stoichiometric silicon carbide reinforcing fibers in an inhibited carbon matrix; the carbon matrix is an organic resin containing an inhibitor compound that has been subjected to carbonization and thereafter to densification by chemical vapor infiltration of at least carbon to form a silicon carbide fiber reinforced carbon composite; and the silicon carbide fiber reinforced carbon composite is coated with a SiC pack cementation coating to form the refractory composite. The pack cementation coating is prepared by providing a pack mixture composition; coating the composite with a release agent; surrounding the release agent-coated composite with the pack mixture composition; and firing the composite to form a protective SiC pack cementation coating on the composite.

Abstract:

A generally cylindrical base defines a bottom supporting surface securable by suction cup attachment to a table top or the like. The base defines an interior reservoir and is hingedly joined to a pivotable cover. The cover supports a rotating element and an upwardly directed spray nozzle. A generally U-shaped handle is pivotally secured to the base and is operatively coupled to an internal pump mechanism which forces water upwardly through the spray nozzle and a drive mechanism which rotates the rotatable element.

Abstract:

A toy figure having two torso halves releasably held together by a pair of engaging lips attached to an expandable latch. A cable may be easily inserted into an aperture in the back of the toy figure. A child may then press a cable button which forces an actuator to engage a tab attached to the latch, causing the latch to move or expand. As the latch expands, the engaging lips disengage allowing the torso halves to separate under the force of a compressed spring mounted inside one of the torso halves. As the torso halves separate, the toy figure appears to split in half.

A method is further provided to fabricate the carbon--carbon (C/C) composite valve comprising machining a carbon--carbon (C/C) composite valve stem having a flared end and a non-flared end from a cured and densified carbon--carbon (C/C) plate having a sufficient thickness; applying a plurality of circular fabric plies, made from a balanced carbon--carbon (C/C) prepreg and having a slit in the center of said ply, coaxially onto the non-flared end of said carbon--carbon (C/C) valve stem and advancing said plurality of plies to intimately contact the flared end of said carbon--carbon (C/C) valve stem; placing said carbon--carbon (C/C) valve stem contacted with said plurality of circular fabric plies into a die; closing said die and cure pressing said circular fabric plies onto the flared end of said carbon--carbon (C/C) valve stem to form a valve head; carbonizing said press cured carbon--carbon (C/C) composite valve; densifying said carbon--carbon (C/C) composite valve structure; and coating at least one of said carbon--carbon (C/C) composite valve stem and valve head with a high temperature resistant coating comprising an inner layer and an outer layer.

The present invention provides an article comprising a plurality of silicon carbide containing fibers in an inhibited carbon matrix. The present invention further provides a process for producing a reinforced component comprising: (a) impregnating a plurality of silicon carbide fibers with an oxidation inhibiting filler-containing organic resin, (b) staging said impregnated fibers to partially cure said resin to form a prepreg, (c) shaping and curing said prepreg to form a laminate, (d) converting said resin in the laminate to carbon to form a carbonized part, (e) densifying said carbonized part by chemical vapor infiltration to form the component.
