Abstract:
A restricted access lockout system restricts access to remotely operated hydraulically actuated valves by utilizing a processor to compare each user's access code against a stored list. The user access code may be provided by card key with an embedded RFID chip, a designated application on a personal device such as a smart phone or smart pad that may communicate with the processor via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Internet, or radio. Once the processor grants access to operate various designated hydraulically actuated valves the designated hydraulically actuated valves are unlocked for designated period of time. After the designated period of time expires the hydraulically actuated valves are relocked. Generally, the lock is via a hydraulic cylinder where the hydraulic fluid may be isolated through one or more solenoid control valves. Hydraulic fluid within the hydraulic cylinder and the cylinder provide a sufficient counter to apply force so that the hydraulically actuated valves may not be manipulated. In certain instances, the hydraulic locks may be replaced by mechanical lock. In other instances, the hydraulic cylinders may be supplied with pressurized hydraulic fluid supply by hydraulic pump wherein the pump is actuated by the processor upon command by a user. The pressurized hydraulic fluid and the hydraulic cylinders may in turn allow the user to remotely actuate the hydraulically actuated valves.

Abstract:
A system for lubricating multiple frac valves while allowing the operator to remain out of the red zone. A system of high flow mandrels and valves allows an operator to enter the red zone a minimal number of times. Generally, when using the system, the operator will enter the red zone prior to the fracking operation beginning to connect the various lines to each frac valve and then after the frac job is complete to disconnect the various lines from each frac valve. A high-pressure pump provides lubricant at a sufficient pressure and volume to a high-pressure manifold or high-pressure manifolds. The high-pressure manifolds supply the hose reels through valves located near the manifold. The hose reels in turn are the lines that are connected to each frac valve Using the system, the operator may remain outside of the red zone with the lubricant reservoir, the pump, the high-pressure manifolds, and the hose reels. When a well pad is shut down the operator chooses which frac valve to grease and commands the associated valve on the high-pressure manifold to open. The high-pressure pump is then actuated using the lubricant from the lubricant reservoir the pump increases the lubricant pressure to about 15,000 psi supplying it to at least a first high-pressure manifold. The high-pressure manifold then distributes the lubricant through the open valve to the desired hose reel and then to the frac valve which is inside the red zone. The operator repeats the process until each of the frac valves on the well pad are greased. The various fittings, lines, valves, and manifolds are chosen or manufactured to minimize pressure losses through the system between the high-pressure pump and the frac valve.
The lubrication flowmeter is configured to be a part of the lubrication system to grease frack valves. The system generally utilizes a manifold to connect to the various fracked valves and at least one pressure transducer providing wellbore pressure and preferably a second pressure transducer providing grease pressure at either the manifold or the pump. A programmable logic controller is provided to activate the grease pump upon reaching preset conditions and to deactivate the grease pump upon reaching a second set of conditions such as pressure threshold, time limit, or volume limits of greased pumped.
The current invention includes manifold having multiple outputs and at least one input for lubricant to be pumped at high pressure from a skid or trailer to a particular frac valve when the valve requires lubrication. Generally such frac valves require lubrication on an hourly schedule or less. Each output port on the manifold is fitted with an on/off valve that allows remote operation such as pneumatic, hydraulic, electro-pneumatic operation, or other known remote operation system. The pump or pumps are also configured for remote operation. A controller is then provided so that each circuit allows, upon command, lubricant to be pumped from the lubricant reservoir, through the pump, to the manifold, through each remotely operable valve, via each output port, through an appropriate rated hose, then to the lubrication or other port on each frac valve. Generally, once connected each frac valve remains connected to the system to allow the operator to cause lubricant to flow to each valve upon command. The controller may also provide a safety cutout so that the system will only provide pressurized lubricant with the controller in the operator's possession while the operator continuously actuates the appropriate switch.
