A unity gain buffer is provided. The unity gain buffer includes two complementary pairs of emitter followers and two bias current sources. The top bias current source is arranged to provide a bias current so that, if the input voltage is greater than zero, the bias current provided by the top current source increases at the input voltage increases. A medical device detachment system receives an elongate delivery member, having a lumen, and an elongate core member. The system includes a housing, a user input mechanism for receiving a user input to effect detachment of a medical device, such as an embolic coil, from a distal end of the delivery member, and a grasping mechanism for grasping and moving a proximal end of the core member relative to a proximal end of the delivery member. The system also includes a first sensor detecting positioning of the proximal end of the core member within the housing, and a second sensor, detecting movement of the grasping mechanism. Retrieval of material from vessel lumens can be improved by electrically enhancing attachment of the material to the removal device. The removal device can have a core assembly that includes a hypotube coupled to a first electrical terminal and a pushwire coupled to a second electrical terminal, the pushwire extending through the hypotube lumen. An insulating layer separates the hypotube and the pushwire, and an interventional element is coupled to a distal end of the pushwire. The interventional element can be disposed adjacent to a thrombus. An electrical signal is delivered to the interventional element to promote adhesion of the thrombus to the interventional element. The electrical signal can optionally be a periodic waveform, and the total energy delivered can be between 0.75-24,000 mJ and the peak current delivered via the electrical signal can be between 0.5-5 mA.
